You are never alone.
Traffic lights accompany your walk
with a song, cash mashines thank you
for using their service.
The dark of the night comes early,
enveloping neon signs and
vending machines lighting up the
streets, carried by the thick humid
summer air.
The constant temperature makes
no difference between night and day.
「散歩」, pronounced「 sanpo」 means「 walk」 in Japanese, as in「 go for a walk」 or「 take a walk」.
These images are「 samples」 of everyday visuals I encountered while taking a「 散歩」 through the streets of Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan.「sanpo samples」 is a book documenting my six-month stay as an exchange student in Japan, showing the culture shock I experienced through photos and scans I produced during my time there. The insert is printed on the risograph and deals with everyday experiences through poetry.
