There was only garden, dirt, plants, everywhere, wherever she put her feet.
Her feet hurt the plants and the dirt hurt the soles of her feet.

It is the year 2523. Advancing climate change has severely altered the natural world as we know it. Most wildlife has been lost. Still, humankind longs for nature and wants to preserve the experience of it. A new trend emerges – "Das Grüne Erinnern" (green remembrance) – an immersive experience of nature simulated by technology. A centuries-old technological artefact is reactivated, unveiling its recollections of a lost green world to a captive audience.
The audiovisual performance and multimedia installation explores a future scenario that encourages a critical examination of humankind's impact on nature and the already advanced loss of biodiversity on a planetary scale.
The high-ceilinged space of the old organ factory in Durlach is transformed by a 15-metre-wide projection that spans the entire length of the hall. A number of rare natural relicts are displayed in glass cases on black plinths – an uprooted plant, a cocoa bean, a strip of turf.
Visitors are handed a pair of rubber gloves as they enter. Futuristic-looking performers with strange mannerisms guide them to their seats. A bell chimes and the performers form a perfect circle facing the projections. What follows is a 45-minute audiovisual séance that transports the audience into a dystopian world of the future, and reminds them of the loss we could all experience in the course of our lives.
